BANDOW, Kenneth Dale
Ken Bandow sadly passed away at the age of 83, at home, surrounded by his family. Born July 2, 1930 in Glendive, MT to Raymond and Alice Bandow, he was raised in Montana along with his four brothers Richard, Gale, Neal and Farrell.
Ken proudly served five years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Monssen during the Korean War. He later attended Montana State University in Bozeman where he received his Bachelor's in Civil Engineering. After college, Ken moved to California to begin his 35 year career with Caltrans, where he was known for his hard work and mentorship.
Shortly after his move to California, Ken met and married his devoted wife Ellie, to whom he was married 52 years. Ken is survived by Ellie, son Gary, daughter Trudy, son-in-law Marc Caraska, grandchildren Nick, Tyler, Katie, daughter Leslie and son-in-law Kevin Murphy.
Ken was a loyal fan of the San Francisco Giants, 49ers, and Sacramento Kings. He loved to golf, was a trustee and active member of the Elks Lodge and most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends for his kind heart, sense of humor, generosity and devotion.
A special thanks goes to UC Davis Hospice Care and the in-home caregivers for their kindness and compassion.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7th at 1pm at Miller Funeral Home, 507 Scott Street, Folsom, with a reception to follow immediately at the Folsom Veterans Hall, 1300 Veterans Way.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge #2484, 11440 Elks Circle, Rancho Cordova, CA 95742, in honor of Kenneth D. Bandow.
