HESTER, Laura Puder
Beloved wife, mother, friend, passed away at her home surrounded by her family in the early morning hours of Tuesday September 24, 2013. Loving wife of Steve Hester for 35 years she is survived by her children, son, Chris Hester; daughter, Brittany Parra and three siblings; sister Susan Settle and brothers Chris and Jim Puder. Laura was the third of four children born to Roland (Red) and Joan Puder on December 11, 1951 in Wilmington, DE. Raised on the East Coast and Midwest, Laura settled in California with her husband in 1979. A graduate of the University of Illinois Laura held degrees in Biology and Nursing. She worked as a Psychiatric Nurse for the Veteran Administration at Mather and prior to that was a Clinic Manager and Psychiatric Nurse for the County of Sacramento. She also spent a number of years working in medical sales. Laura's love, enjoyment, comfort and strength clearly came from being with family, friends and from her church. Her favorite times were at family gatherings, celebrating the Holidays, dinner with her girl friends and events with her Empty Nester Club. Throughout her life she enjoyed various outdoor activities seeing those as opportunities to share with family and friends. Whether it be walking along the soccer field sidelines, scuba or skydiving, biking along the American River Parkway, skiing Squaw, it was always a time for Laura to celebrate with and enjoy those she cherished. She will be missed. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Laura's life at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1615 Morse Ave., Sacramento at 2:00PM on Friday October 4, 2013.
