Marshall (Pete) Milne, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013. Pete was born in Vallejo on April 20, 1939, to Harry and Zoi Milne. He spent his early years in Napa, graduating from Napa Senior High School in 1957. After graduation, Pete attended classes at Pasadena Playhouse to follow his passion for the performing arts, excelling at acting and singing. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Pete attended Napa Valley College where he met his wife Marie. They married in 1962 and had two sons, Steven and John, who he was very proud of and loved very much. Returning to college in the late 1960's, Pete attained a degree in liberal arts from Sacramento State. A talented actor and singer, Pete was active in Sacramento's theatre community from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s. Pete's numerous performances included acclaimed portrayals of Sancho Panza in "Man of La Mancha," Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof" and Joe Horn in "Rain." Retiring from the State of California (Office of Planning & Research) in 1994, Pete became active in the Renaissance Society where he pursued his interests in singing, photography, travel, etc., and met a fabulous group of friends who were very dear to him. Pete is survived by his wife Marie, sons Steven and John, daughter-in-law Marie, brothers Jim and Tim, brother-in-law Joe Cruces, sisters-in-law Helen and Fay Milne, Judi and Linda Cruces, grandchildren (whom he adored) Harrison, Evelyn, Serena, Gabriel, Anthony, Vivian and Janine Milne and nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 16 at 11am at the Sacramento Children's Home, Casa Garden Restaurant, 2760 Sutterville Rd. Sacramento, CA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sacramento Children's Home.
