Dr. Norman "Norm" L. Forste, PhD passed away peacefully in his sleep October 11, 2013. USAF veteran of the Korean War, retired as a Major after 30 years of active and reserve service. He obtained college degrees from American River College (AA), California State University - Sacramento (BA and MA), Golden Gate University (MBA), and the University of Washington (PhD). All obtained through evening college programs, working full-time. He was a fire fighter, Hagginwood Fire Department; Supervising Data Processing Systems Analyst, State Systems Analysis Office; and Director of the Systems and Data Processing Department, Sacramento County. Served as the Director of the Administrative Computing Center, University of Washington; Partner of Management Consulting, Deloitte, Haskins and Sells; President, Norman L. Forste & Associates. During his 30 years in management consulting, He had provided services to a wide variety of California state agencies, including the California State University system. College instructor in Systems Analysis, and Management Information Systems with American River College, Golden Gate University, California State University - Sacramento, and University of California - Davis. Norm was also a long time member of The Sutter Club. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catherine, their four children and six grandchildren. Dr. Forste had lived in the Sacramento area for more than 70 years. A Memorial service will be held at 11:30 November 15 at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon CA.
