A resident of Sacramento for 50 years, Olin died peacefully on Feb. 27, 2014 at age 79. Born in New Port, TN. Olin was married to Juanita, his loving wife of 60 years. He is survived by his brother (Ron), nephew (Shane), his children James, Elizabeth, John, Victor, Thomas, and Jeff, their spouses, 25 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Olin served 28 years in the United States Air Force as flight Engineer, including a tour in Vietnam. His decorations and honors include: The Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, and Air Medal w/ (5) Oak Leaf Clusters. He also worked as a Civil Service supervisor for 17 years at McClellan A.F.B. An Eagle Scout at age 16, Olin served as Assistant Scout Master for Troop 22 in VA. and as Cub Pack Leader of Pack 575 in North Highlands. He was active in both VFW Post 4647, and American Legion. Olin was prededed in death by his father (Cecil), his mother (Radie), brother (Johnny), and son (Michael). He loved spending time with family and friends at his 10 acre Family Reunion Home in Sevierville, TN. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-8 pm on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Mount Vernon memorial Park located at 8201 Greenback Ln., Fair Oaks, CA (916) 969-1251. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00, with military honors, followed by interment at Mount Vernon.
