MORFORD, Ormond Richard
Was born June 26, 1926. He passed away on Feb. 2, 2014 at the age of 87.
Ormond will be remembered for his warm heart and loving family spirit. He was charismatic, intelligent, energetic, and always the life of the party.
Ormond was the son of Ralph and Jane Morford. He was raised on a farm in Martinez, California, where he graduated from Alhambra High School. He enjoyed all types of music and played the trumpet through his high school years. He joined the US Air Force during WWII. After the war, he attended St Mary's College, and then attended USC, where he graduated with a Pharmaceutical Degree in 1950. He started his career working for a pharmacy in Pittsburg, CA. He met and married Marie Lucido, and had three children. They moved to Woodland, CA where Ormond opened his first Corner Drug Store on Main St. The family then moved to Carmichael, CA where Ormond (Morf) was the owner/pharmacist of Corner Drug for 35 years in Carmichael.
Later on in life he was introduced to his second wife, Mae Nash. They were married in March 1992, and were happily married for 22 years. They both enjoyed traveling, especially to their condo in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They also traveled with friends to Italy, and parts of the US.
Ormond's passions were golf, canoeing, a good game of bridge and he was an excellent dance partner. He was a charter member of the Carmichael Elks Club.
Ormond is survived by his devoted wife Mae, his three children, Richard (Denise) Morford, Susan (Dan) Todd, and Joanne (Terry) Moylan. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, a new great granddaughter, 4 step children, Darlene Furtado (Jim), Neil Hankin (Shelley), Al Hankin (Kathy), Robin Wilson and 5 step-grandchildren.
Ormond will be sorely missed by his family and friends, but the life and love he shared will live on in all of us.
Family and friends are invited to the service at Mt. Vernon Chapel, located at 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA at 1pm on Feb. 7, 2014. Reception is to follow at Mt.
