FLANNERY, Paul Joseph
Passed away peacefully on August 22nd in Roseville, Ca. after a long illness.
Paul was a graduate of the University of Iowa where he excelled on the basketball court. Paul and Lila, his wife of 63 years, settled in California and raised a large family. Paul loved the outdoors and family vacations. He loved sports and was a true 49er and Giants fan.
Paul retired from Caltrans as a Deputy Director in the Stockton office and also as a Major in the U.S. Air Force.
In retirement Paul was an active member of Kiwanis and volunteered his time with the Salvation Army.
Paul is survived by his wife Lila and children Michael, Stephen, Daniel, Gerri Coffey, Kevin, Sean and Erin Allen. He has 17 grandchildren and 7 great grand children; a sister, Karen Alberts of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Iowa.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clare's Catholic Church, 1950 Junction Blvd., Roseville, CA with a reception to follow in the Morris Hall adjacent to the church. A private family interment will be held in Iowa City, Iowa at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Paul's name to the Wounded Warrior project or Saint Vincent De Paul Charities.
