Richard was born in Monroe, Louisiana on August 30, 1933. Richard resided in Denver, Colorado from the age of 6 until his early adult years. On March 23, 2013 he passed away suddenly in Sacramento, CA. Richard will be missed by his confidante Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents Manny and Ernestine Ross and sister Anita Higgins as well as his step daughter LaKesha. Richard is survived by his two nephews, Steven and Samuel Ross and their wives JoAnn and Debra, his step sons Shawn and Chris and a host of great nieces, nephews and friends. Richard served in the United States Airforce (USAF) and was an avid semi pro basketball player. His inspirational temperament was infectiousness and it caused people to gravitate toward him which led to many long lasting friendships and acquaintances. Sixty three years as a LIFE MEMBER of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order (I.B.P.O.) Elks of the World fraternal organization was his most gratifying accomplishment. Richard continued to serve at the local Elks Lodge #1147 here in Sacramento, CA, located at 3706 Stockton Blvd. Visition on Saturday, April 6, 2013 1-4pm; service on Monday, April 8, 2013, 11am, both at Morgan Jones Chapel of Chimes, 4200 Broadway. Interment Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA.
