Robert A. Hamilton 'Bob' passed away at age 91 on Sept. 20, 2013. He is survived by his two sons Andy (Joyce) and Robert; grandchildren Drew, Kelley and Hannah; great grandchildren Zachary and Mason; nephews Tom (Sue) and Lee (Sally) and niece Heidi (Jim) and their children. Bob is also survived by a large community of friends and his cat Gus II. Bob was born and raised in Fresno, CA, the son of Lucille and John A. Hamilton. He had two sisters, Jeanada and Mattilea. Bob served in the Navy during World War II and later attended college. He also learned to fly, obtaining a pilot's license. Bob moved to Sacramento and worked as a pipe-fitter under Union Local #447 for many years. In his fifties, Bob acquired an old house in East Sacramento and slowly restored it. He created a wonderful home, renting out rooms to students and making many life-long friends in the process. Bob was a quiet, gentle and humble man with many talents, skills and a wide array of interests. He had a passion for nature, animals, art, antiques, old toys, Kaiser cars and trains. He was kind and thoughtful and very supportive of his friends and family. He enjoyed learning and traveling, participating in many Elderhostel adventures. A memorial and celebration of Bob's life will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Society, 2425 Sierra Blvd. in Sacramento on Jan 18, 2014 at 1pm.
