Robert Maurice McCafferty, 76, of Fair Oaks passed away peacefully on December 26th, 2013 from heart failure. Bob was a pillar of our valley's communication industry serving as an anchor, reporter and executive at TV stations including KHSL, Chico and KXTV, KOVR and KVIE Sacramento. Bob created and managed the Governor's Office of Communications for Ronald Reagan and later worked in the administrations of Governors Brown and Schwarzenegger. Bob also created public relations firm McCafferty & Co, Communications and was president of the Sacramento Public Relations Association. Bob was a prolific and gifted writer for many national magazines and a tireless volunteer for local organizations including the Aerospace Museum of California, the California International Marathon and Valley Broadcast Legends. He was the recipient of numerous awards for his community service. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Puerto Rico. He is survived by his loving - and as he would say - tolerant wife of 35 years, Dee, children Jeff, Bob, Kathy and Donna, nine grandchildren and eight Great grandchildren. Bob will be remembered for his unbridled optimism and love of life and friends and for his commitment to his community and family. The family has already shared private burial services at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. A Celebration of Bob's Life is being planned and will be announced with ample notice when scheduled.
