He went to C.K. McClatchy High School, attended UC Davis, then joined the Air Force and was stationed in Tampa, Florida. He and his wife Cathy moved back to Sacramento and Walt went to work for the State of California and was head of the capital grounds. Later he had his own landscaping business in which he did California highways and commercial landscaping. Walt became the salesman for A.D.S Pipe Co., belonged to the California Landscape association and he lobbied at the capital for their benefit. He retired in 1994 to care for his ailing wife Cathy who died in 1996.
Walt enjoyed life, people and loved his family. He had a great smile, laugh and was happiest when playing golf at Valley Hi Country Club and later at Cameron Park for the past 15 years. Walt remarried in 1998 to Carolyn Wrinkle Pompei. They enjoyed the game of golf with good friends and spent time on many trips in the US and abroad. Our family will miss him as he was truly a gentleman and great to be with.
