McMILLAN, William Martin
William McMillan passed away on May 15th at the age of 73. He is survived by his devoted wife and childhood sweetheart, Kay; children (Jeff McMillan, Liz McMillan and Jennifer Enos); and grandchildren (Rachel, Owen, Natalie, Shayn, Kathleen, Sarah, and Shannon). His parents and sister Joan predecease him. Born in Vallejo, CA on September 5th, 1940 to parents June and Norman, Bill grew up in Oakland and attended Castlemont High School. He attended the University of Washington where he rowed on the freshmen championship crew team. To be closer to Kay, he transferred to Cal and he finished his studies in the Bay Area. Bill received his law degree in 1966 from Hastings School of Law and spent his 34-year career as an attorney for CalTrans. During his career, he served as Chief Counsel for CalTrans and the California Highway Commission. His hobbies included playing tennis at Arden Hills, where he and Kay met many of their life-long friends. Bill was an avid cycler and biked to work nearly every day, rain or shine, for 15 years. In his later years, he transitioned to golf, a sport both he and Kay enjoyed playing together. Bill is loved and respected by many and he will be missed greatly.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church at 11 am on Friday, May 23rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation at Melanoma.org.
