BROWN, Sr., William V.
Passed away at his home March 3, 2014 from COPD, Bill was born to Flora Brown and George Brown in Salmon Idaho on November 10, 1920, he was the eldest of three son's. Bill graduated from Salmon high in 1938. The Brown's moved west to California and started working with Flora's brothers at a resort called Big Tree Park in the California redwoods. In 1940 the Brown's moved to Fair Oaks to become long time residents. Bill attended City College part time while working to help the family with life in Fair Oaks. Bill took an aircraft mechanic course at San Juan High and was hired as a mechanics helper at McClellan AFB. He was drafted into the Army on March 19, 1943 ultimately assigned to 812th Army Air Forces Base Unit as a SSgt. crew chief on a C47 medical transportation aircraft. He was released on February 23, 1946 returned to Fair Oaks and resumed work at McClellan AFB. Skills learned in the Army Air Corps moved him to supervisor positions in the maintenance division. On June 18, 1948 he married Jean Keesling and they started a family. Daughter Lynda was born in 1950, Bill Jr. was born in 1955, they lived on Capitila Ave. Bill was always very active in his kids activities even while traveling extensively with the Procurement Division at McClellan. Bill was an active volunteer firefighter with Fair Oaks Fire Dept, from 1951 to 1976 and was on the Board of Directors for over 15 years. Bill retired in 1971 as a GS12 Procurement Specialist. In 1976 Bill and Jean moved back to Salmon where they had their second life, making now friends, business interests and travel. They returned to Citrus Heights in 1995. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Dick and his 'Bunky' of 64 years Jean. Survived by brother Robert, daughter Lynda, son Bill Jr., son-in-law Dennis, daughter-in-law Deborah, granddaughters Kelly & Holli, great-grandchildren Robert, Ariana and Braydon, many nieces and nephews. Memorial service April 4, 2014 at Russ Monroe's Village Chapel at 10:30AM, Celebration of life following at Bill & Deborah's home,
