BLUNK, Zackery Emerson
October 23, 1977 - July 2, 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of Zackery 'Zack' E. Blunk (age 35) announce his sudden passing on July 2, 2013. Zack was born and raised in Sacramento, CA and after a bit of wayward ambling in his early 20's, enlisted in the US Army. There, he distinguished himself as a strong and respected leader. During Zack's military service he was stationed with the 1st Infantry Division at Bamberg, Germany. Zack was then selected to serve in Special Forces and was reassigned to Fort Bragg, NC where he attended the Special Forces Qualification Course. After graduation, he was assigned to 4th Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell, KY where he served as a Special Forces Medical Sergeant for nearly 7 years. Over his short lifespan, Zack amassed a truly impressive list of accomplishments and life experiences, but the ones he treasured most included his children, adventures with his friends, and holding the household high-score record for every Atari and Nintendo video game he ever owned.

Zack will be forever remembered by his family including his 3 sons, Elias (15), Nicholas (9), and Timothy (6), ex-wife, Aubrey, grandmother, Gwynne, mother, Judy, sister, Sherry, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Zack was preceded in death by his father, Timothy. Zack will be dearly missed by his family and friends for his charismatic personality, his inventive problem-solving style, and his unparalleled bartering skills.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 25 at 10:00 AM at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Hall located at 905 Drever Street, West Sacramento.
