Albert W. Brown

SALISBURY - Mr. Albert Walter Brown, 85, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at Magnolia Gardens Nursing Facility, Spencer.

Born April 17, 1929, in Hartwell, Ga., to the late William Judson Brown and Clyde Jones Brown, he was educated in Rowan County public schools and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Brown was a self-employed plasterer and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Boyden Quarters. He was also a member of J.C. Price American Legion Post 107.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers William Brown and Roscoe Brown; and sisters Helen Brown Wiseman Roebuck and Tortilee Turman.

He leaves precious memories to a brother, James Brown, Granite Quarry; a devoted longtime friend, Annie Ruth Cobb, Salisbury; godchildren Doris Sanders, Minister Elaine Sanders, Reba Williams, Thomas Williams, Gwendolyn Walker, Derrick Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will be at the home of Mrs. Annie R. Cobb, 1100 Bringle Ferry Road, Apt. 412, the remainder of the time.

Arrangements: Services will take place Tuesday, Aug. 12 at A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel of Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home Inc. Visitation is at 12:30 p.m. and the funeral at 1 p.m. Minister Joyce Simpson is officiating. Burial will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery on Statesville Boulevard with Military Rites by the Rowan Honor Guard.
