Claud Allen Howell

KANNAPOLIS - Claud Allen Howell, 92, of Kannapolis, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House.

He was born Feb. 15, 1920, in Ashe County, the son of the late Gaither and Nora Rhoades Howell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jamie Margie Sechler Howell, on Jan. 24, 2011. He was also preceded in death by 19 brothers and sisters.

Claud was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was a mechanic/ service manager all of his life working at various dealerships in Kannapolis. He was a member of Rogers Park Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children, Dewey Howell (Cathy) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; Betty H. Wilson (Wayne) of Kannapolis, Charleen H. Sine (Richard) of Ft. Mill, S.C., David Howell (Penny) of Concord, Jerry Howell (Sandi) of Bryson City; a brother, Carson Howell of Concord; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren. and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Caremoor Retirement Center and Tucker Hospice House for the care shown Claud and his family.

Service and Visitation: A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel officiated by Rev. Ralph Robinette. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 prior.
