Dwight R. Bassinger

SALISBURY - Mr. Dwight Richard Bassinger, 86, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at the NC State Veteran Home.

He was born March 10, 1927 in Rowan County, to the late Jennie Wilhelm and S.D. Bassinger.

Mr. Bassinger served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a self-employed cabinet maker. He was a member of Haven Lutheran Church.

His wife, whom he married on March 11, 1945, Mary Lowder Bassinger preceded him in death on July 18, 2011; along with three brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are his daughters, Joyce Gregerson and husband Mike of Salisbury, and Susan Graham and husband Emory of Mt. Ulla; four grandchildren, Tana Nichols and husband Jeff of Kannapolis; Jaymes Graham of Charlotte, Jonathan Graham and wife Anna of Whitsett, and Jennie Graham of Mt Ulla; three great-grandchildren: Megan, Emma and Erin Nichols and one great-great-grandchild, Braelyn Nichols.

Service & Visitation: Graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at Rowan Memorial Park cemetery with Rev. Jerry Snipes officiating and military honors by NC Honor Guard. Visitation will be held following the graveside service.
