Ethan A. Allen

BURLINGTON - Mr. Ethan A. Allen, 90, of Burlington, died at the Hospice Home on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at 9:10 p.m.

A native of Chesterfield, S.C., he was the husband of Faye Hamilton Allen, who survives, and the son of Malvin McMaster Allen and Linnie Smith Allen, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during World War II as a pilot in the Naval Air Corps.

Ethan was a retired grocery store manager at A&P Stores and later worked at Food Lion. He was a member of Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church for 60 years.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include three daughters, Patricia Allen, Rebecca Scarlett and husband Roger, all of Burlington, and Ann McDonald and husband Michael of Reidsville; two sons, Thomas Allen of Burlington and David Allen and wife Crystal of Mooresville; three grandchildren, Megan Sypert and husband Paul, Rhonda Scarlett Bangert and husband David and Barbara Murray; great-grandchildren David Henry "Hank" Bangert, Mackenzie McDonald, Maddyson McDonald and Michael Sypert; a sister, Helen Cannady of Clinton; and a brother, Laland Allen of Garner.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Service and Visitation: The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington Sunday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. by Rev. Jimmy Nickelston with the family receiving friends from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
