Herman F. Beaver

SALISBURY - Herman Francis Beaver, 91, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday October 23, 2012, in Salisbury.

He was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Rowan County, a son of the late Charlie Council Beaver and Ivey Frances Jacobs.

Herman was educated in Rowan County schools and was a graduate of Catawba College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

On March 30, 1945, in Salisbury, he married the love of his life, Mildred Thomas Beaver, who survives in Salisbury.

He was employed as the general manager of Salisbury Bonded Warehouse. Herman was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Council, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.

He was a member of the Lions Club. He was the former chairman of the Rowan County Board of Elections and a charter member of Rufty-Holmes Computer Club. He was very involved in the Cotton Warehouse Association, where he served as president of the national association. He also delivered Meals on Wheels for several years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Ronald Beaver; and two sisters, Virginia Grissom and Mary Gordon.

Left to cherish his memories are wife Mildred Thomas of Salisbury; two daughters, Ann Deibert and husband Glenn Sr. of Plantation, Fla., and Jane Houska and husband Chuck of Clemmons; and four grandchildren, Glenn Deibert Jr., Kristen Deibert, Christopher Houska and fiancee Lauren and Katy Felts and husband Drew.

Visitation and Service: Visitation is 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church, 303 Fifth St., Spencer, NC 28159 with service to follow at 1 p.m.

Inurnment will follow at a later date in the Church Columbarium.
