Jackie Lyerly Wise

MATTHEWS - Jackie Lyerly Wise, 67, of Matthews, passed away at Levine and Dickson Hospice House of Charlotte on May 16, 2013, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Salisbury to the late Gilbert and Hazel Lyerly.

Jackie believed in family, friends and a drive to always do your best. Some of her fondest memories included the Matthews Athletic and Recreation Association of Matthews.

She enjoyed many years going to the beach with her family and friends. Later in life, she never passed up an opportunity to go on a cruise.

She worked for Clariant Corp for 30 years. Jackie was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Monroe and was a Democratic Judge in Matthews Voting Precinct for 22 years.

Jackie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Kenneth Wise; sons Kenneth "Keith" (Carrie) of Belmont and Douglas (Michelle) of Monroe; grandchildren Danielle and Mason, Patience and Molly; sisters Linda Franklin (Wayne) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Myra Cordell; brother Gilbert Lyerly (Teresa) of Salisbury; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Service and Visitation: A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, May 20 at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2301 N. Rocky River Road, Monroe, NC 28110. The family will begin to receive friends at 12 p.m.
