ASHEBORO - Mr. James Van Frazier, 82, of Asheboro, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Randolph Hospital.
A native of Richmond County, Mr. Frazier was born June 16, 1930, the son of the late James Marshall Frazier and Lydia Harward Frazier. He retired from the N.C. Dept. of Corrections and was a Korean War combat veteran. James spent his retired life with antique trucks and tractors and beekeeping.
Mr. Frazier is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Benbow Frazier; children Jimmy Frazier, Vickie Gray, Donna Moser, Kimberly Johnson, Tony Frazier; brothers Clarence Frazier, Jack Frazier; grandchildren Mendy Benge, Christy Mullinax, Angie Moser, Jessica Garmon, Nathan Gray; great-grandchildren Shelby Benge, Mason Benge, Cameron Mullinax, Chloe Mullinax, Avery Garmon and Deacon Garmon.
Service: A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bo Wansley officiating. Burial will follow at Flag Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Asheboro. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and doctors at Randolph Hospital and the VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
