SALISBURY - John Gorman Misenheimer Sr., 67, of Salisbury, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center surrounded by family.
He was born Feb. 14, 1946, in Rowan County, son of Harry Gorman Misenheimer Jr. of Salisbury and the late Elizabeth Stroud Misenheimer.
A 1964 graduate of Boyden High School, John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1966 as a Jet Aircraft Mechanic and served a tour in Vietnam. A 1973 Catawba College graduate, John retired from National Starch & Chemical as a supervisor after 32 years.
He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. A compassionate son, husband, father and grandfather, John was a remarkable friend to all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are wife Janet Gayle Sprinkle Misenheimer of Salisbury; son Major John Gorman Misenheimer Jr. and wife Lisa Diane of Fayetteville; grandchildren Katie Elisabeth and John Evan Misenheimer; and sister Kathy M. Dearman of Salisbury.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 18 at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 2121 Mooresville Road, Salisbury.
Service: 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the church with Pastor Anthony Wike officiating. Burial to follow at 2 p.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC with military rites performed by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
