Larry 'Wayne' Adams

SPENCER - Larry "Wayne" Adams, 67, of Spencer, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.

Born Dec. 10, 1946, in Rowan County, Mr. Adams was a son of the late James Randolph "Red" and Margaret Frick Adams.

Wayne was a 1965 graduate of North Rowan High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a SeaBee stationed in Vietnam.

Retired from General Electric, he was a member of Spencer Moose Lodge and Elks.

Wayne loved his family, camping, beach trips and cooking.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kay Beaver Adams, who he married on March 22, 1970; sons Todd Adams and wife Carrie of Salisbury, Chris Adams and wife Ashley of Sanford and Tony Adams and fiancee Shareen Rustin of Salisbury; grandchildren Spencer Adams and wife Brittney, Travis Adams, Andrew Adams, Tyler Adams, Marleigh Adams, Bradley Adams and Lauren Adams; great-grandchild Piper Adams; brothers Jimmy Adams and wife Faye of Richmond, Va., and David Adams of Spencer; sister Cynthia Donaghy of Raleigh; and five nieces and nephews.

Service: There will be a Memorial Service Sunday, March 23 at 3 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home Chapel in Rockwell, conducted by Rev. Richard Gross, pastor of Oakdale Baptist Church.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Sunday, March 23 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home.

Burial: There will be a Graveside Service at Salisbury National Cemetery Monday, March 24 at 11 a.m. with military graveside rites provided by the Rowan County Honor Guard.

The family wishes to offer their sincere thanks to the staff of Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House for their loving and attentive care.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Rowan County, 720 Grove St., Salisbury, NC 28144; or Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, 1229 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
