EAST SPENCER - Mr. Paul Eugene Black Sr., age 77, of East Spencer, entered his eternal rest on March 27, 2014, at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro.
He was born Dec.20, 1936, in Salisbury to the late Lloyd and Eula Mae Heilig Black.
Preceding him in death were his daughter, Kimberly M. Black, on Dec. 13, 1999; and brothers Samuel B. Black, Raymond L. Black, James B. Black, Phillip Black, William E. Black and Calvin Black.
After graduating from Dunbar High School, he served four years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.
He is survived by his ever-loving and ever-supportive wife of 51 years, Betty E. Black, East Spencer; three sons, Paul E. Black Jr., Barry K. Black, both of the home, and Jonathan R. Black (special friend LaToya Williams) of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Dwon N. Still of Thomasville, Kira L. Still reared in the home of East Spencer, Sha'Hirah and Jonathan R. Williams of Charlotte; sisters Irene E. Corpening, Valerie M. Turner (Donald) and Brenda B. (Johnny) Clark, all of Salisbury; sisters-in-law Marketta E. Witherspoon (Donnie), Irma Eller of Patterson, N.J., Constance Offley Black of Fayetteville and Mary Walker Black, Salisbury; two favorite nieces, Ada T. Witte of Salisbury and Valijean E. Bridgett (Vincent) of St. Cloud, Fla.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service and Visitation: Funeral service will be Thursday, April 3 at 12:30 p.m. with visitation at 12 noon at Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. David Bracken, pastor, officiating. Military rites and interment will be in the U.S. National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury.
