Raymond Luther Bailey

SALISBURY - Rev. Raymond Luther Bailey, entered into eternal life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at his residence on Sunday Nov. 4, 2012, following a year of declining health.

He was born April 10, 1931, in Richmond County, to the late Nettie Florence Brigman Bailey and William Samuel Bailey.

He served his country with the Marine Corps as a sergeant and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal (Feb. 15, '51 - Feb. 14, '54). He retired from Bank of America in Charlotte, where he held a supervisor position with security.

He pastored several churches in the Kannapolis and Landis areas. Most recently, he pastored Upper Room Chapel in Landis and also Winds of Revival Ministry on local television stations. He truly loved his Lord and family. He will be greatly missed.

He played baseball and loved the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 57 years, Naomi Johnson Bailey; daughter Sherry Kennerly (Rick); sons Michael Ray Bailey (Cindy) and Keith Bailey (Kim) and David Bailey; sisters Maltie Chandler and the Rev. Pearlie Peterson; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Nov. 9 at Gospel Lighthouse Church, 453 Concordia Church Road, China Grove, NC 28023.

Graveside Service: 2:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at West Lawn Memorial Park, 1350 S. Main St., China Grove, NC 28088, with Dr. Joel Ervin officiating.
