Robert 'Artie' Smith

SALISBURY - Mr. Robert "Artie" Arthur Smith, 64, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 25, 1948, and was a lifelong resident of Rowan County living at Rowan Homes and RHA Homes. He was preceded by his parents, Paul R. Smith and Phyllis Carter Smith.

Artie worked for Rowan Vocational Workshop, was a member of the ARC and participated in Special Olympics. Artie was a member of Landmark Church in Salisbury.

He is survived by his brothers, Mike Smith and wife Louise of Middlesex and Ray Smith and wife Carolyn of Lynchburg, Va.; sister Doris Stevens and husband Eric of St. Mary's, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation: A visitation will be held Wednesday (March 13) from 6-7:30 p.m. at Summersett Funeral Home.

Service: The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday (March 14) at Summersett Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Jerry Snipes. Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

Memorials: May be made to ARC of Rowan County, 1918 W. Innes St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
