Roger Dwight Davis

CLEVELAND - Roger Dwight Davis, 66, of Cleveland passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Born July 17, 1946 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Richard Clyde and Margaret Maedine Lytle Davis.

Roger graduated from Old Fort High School and North Carolina State University. He retired from the North Carolina State Hwy Patrol in 2000 after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the North Carolina Trooper's Association. Roger was a veteran of the United State Army serving during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter, Crystal Ann Davis.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dianne Graham Davis, whom he married April 18, 1982; son, Christopher Dwight Davis of Old Fort; brothers, Cecil U. Davis (Anna) of Chapel Hill and C.L. Davis (Judy) of Morganton; and sisters, Doris Meadows of Asheville and Grace Elliott of Old Fort.

Visitation: 12:30-2:45 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2013 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Fellowship Building, 11020 NC HWY 801, Mt. Ulla, NC 28125.

Service: 3 p.m., Monday, June 24 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mary Louise Sitton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with graveside rites conducted by the North Carolina Highway Patrol Honor Guard.
