Steven Lee Douglas

SALISBURY - Mr. Steven Lee Douglas, 70, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born Dec. 19, 1942, in Winston-Salem to the late Steve Edgar and Louise Linville Douglas. Steve was educated in Atlanta, Ga., and Rowan County schools and graduated from Boyden High School in Salisbury.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 18th Artillery. Steve worked with the fire department, law enforcement, and safety and security. He had to retire due to the effects of Parkinson's disease.

Steve had a robust zest for life. He enjoyed movies, travel, entertaining family and friends.

He attended Franklin Baptist Church and was a member of the Tommy Burleyson Sunday School Class.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Racine Pruitt Douglas, who he married on June 15, 1968; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Summersett Funeral Home.

Service: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (March 30) at Summersett Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joe Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Park.

Steve's family wishes to extend thanks and appreciation to Sherri, Pam, Bill, Stanley and Jane for their loving and lengthy help in caring for Steve.
