Thomas Ray Honeycutt

LANDIS - Thomas Ray "Tommy" Honeycutt, 69, passed away Friday Feb. 15, 2013 at Tucker Hospice House.

Born July 29, 1943 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Othelia Atwell Honeycutt. He graduated from Landis High School in 1961 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Landis.

Mr. Honeycutt was a former truck driver for Akers Motor Lines. He was employed in the textile industry for many years and was a former Landis Police Officer and retired member of the Landis Fire Department. He also drove a truck for Tidewater Transit. He was a member of Southern Bass-masters of Landis for over 40 years. Tommy played on many local softball teams in the area including Linn Corriher, Howard's Furniture and Gary's BBQ.

Survivors include his wife Patti Hudspeth Honeycutt; a son, Timothy Ray Honeycutt and wife Mary of Walkertown; a daughter; Tracie Honeycutt Storie and husband Bunky of Kannapolis; and grandchildren, Mathew Scott Honeycutt, Hannah Luzette Honeycutt, Barry Michael Honeycutt and Maxwell M. Honeycutt.

Service & Visitation: A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Landis at 3 p.m. with Rev. Andrea Conder officiating. A visitation will be held at the church fellowship hall Monday from 1:30-3 p.m. prior to the service.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Landis First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 11, Landis, NC 28088 or to Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
