KANNAPOLIS - Warren Everett Beaver, 89, of Kannapolis died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Carolina Medical Center NorthEast after a period of declining health.

Warren was born Aug. 6, 1923 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Everett C. and Susan Lisenby Beaver. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Navy on the USS Cowpens and the USS Philippine Sea.

He resided for many years in St. Petersburg, Fla. during which time he worked for Winn-Dixie for 20 years, retiring in 1984. A member of the VFW, Warren moved back to Kannapolis in 2002 to be near his immediate family. He was a member of North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church. Warren found pleasure in cooking, gardening and feeding and watching the birds.

In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Goodenough Beaver, who passed in 1998; three sisters and five brothers.

He is survived by four step-daughters and their families; his brothers, Grover Beaver of Kannapolis and John Beaver of Roanoke Rapids; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Susan Sides and Michele Beaver, who saw to his care.

Service and Visitation: 12 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church with Rev. Steve Beam and Rev. Steven Cline officiating. Burial will follow at the Salisbury National Cemetery at 2p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. prior to the funeral.
