William T. 'Bucky' Walters

CHINA GROVE - Rev. William T. "Bucky" Walters, 86, of China Grove passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast.

He was born Feb. 20, 1927 in Madison County, Ohio, the son of the late John E. and Verna Mae Adams Walters.

He retired from Patterson Brothers Farm. He also owned and operated Bucky's Produce in Spencer for 21 years. He was a retired Baptist minister. An eight year veteran of the United States Army, Bucky served during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of West Park Baptist Church in Rockwell where he had been an adult Sunday school teacher and was involved in the Bus Ministry. But, most of all, he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by a son, Clark Edward Walters in 2013.

Service and Visitation: 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 at West Park Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Charles Carver. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Rowan Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Kathleen Miller Walters; four children, Johnny David Walters (Vickie) of Rockwell, Verna Ann Roach (Gary) of China Grove, Patricia Kay Schenck (Dennis) of China Grove and Loretta Leah Stirewalt (John) of Rockwell; nine grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; and four sisters, Bonnie Chandler and Mary Akrouche, both of Ohio and Betty Lampton and Rosie Koury, both of Florida.
