Allen Brems Obituary
5/31/1918 ~ 5/26/2009
Allen Odell Brems passed away peacefully on May 26, 2009.
He was born on May 31, 1918 in Lehi, UT to Francis and Sadie Brems. He was the eldest of six children. He married Ruth Curtis on April 18, 1941 and was sealed in the LDS Temple. They had two daughters, Carolyn Ruth and Marilyn Adell. He served his country in the US Army where he was on the front lines of Japan during World War II. He retired from Garrett Freight lines after many years of service. He had a love for the outdoors and spent many enjoyable summers at his cabin in Alpine Acres, where he loved spending his time with his family and friends. He loved to hike all the trails, and ride his four wheeler with his dog, "Jake". Other times, he just sat back and enjoyed nature's finest. Allen is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Marilyn; grandson, Craig; his parents, Francis and Sadie; siblings, Bud Brems, Don Brems, Rae Robinson, Omer Brems, Thora Brems and his always faithful companion "Jake".
He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Glen) Hensley of Kearns, UT; sister, Myrna (Gary) Openshaw; brother, Louis (Pink) Brems; five grandchildren, Cathy (Chuck) Sorensen of North Ogden, UT; Cyndi (Doug) Brookins of West Jordan, UT; Michelle (Jon) Byrd of Portland, OR; Shawn (Kellie) Sorensen of Kearns, UT; Sabrina (Drew) Manning of Magna; six great-grandkids: Elric Andrew, Elyssia Anne, Christopher Jordan, Austin Douglas, Kadynce Halia and Briley Adell. Special thanks to Kathryn Newmeyer, Allen's long-time friend and companion for being there for him over the years.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 30, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Friends and family may call on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
