Dale Willard Fackrell Obituary
1921 ~ 2012
Dale Willard Fackrell, age 91. It is with love and appreciation that we honor our father's life-long enough to accomplish his desires-too short to realize all of his dreams. He took great pride in getting his pilots license at age 61. Flying gave him satisfaction, excitement and some stark and brutal terror. Arrival in this life was on August 21, 1921 in Howell, UT; the first child of Mary Elma and Israel H. Fackrell. His departure flight left on October 24, 2012 at his home of natural causes, surrounded by loving family. Final destination: his reward in Heaven.
He was educated in Howell and graduated from Bear River High School in 1939. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Philippines, Hawaii, and Iwo Jima. He came back from the war, married Betty Jane (div), and had three children, Mark (Phyllis), Marlayne (Richard) Poulsen and Melanie Fackrell. He graduated with a BS in Psychology from the University of Utah in 1957. He married his second wife, Fern, and had Anne (David) Arrington. He has 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was employed in various capacities by the federal government most of his life. After retiring from there, he worked for the State of Utah as an employment specialist. He liked to travel, visiting most countries of the world with his wife, Fern. Never was there a kinder, tolerant, more gentle man; always looking out for the underprivileged and championing the underdog. He loved to talk politics and study human nature, and he wished to be remembered as the self-proclaimed "bleeding-heart liberal Democrat" that he was.
Viewing Monday (Oct 29) morning, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., and funeral 11 a.m. at the LDS church on 2160 W. Gordon Ave, Layton 84041.
