De Von J McPhie, age 65, passed away September 14, 2013 at home in American Fork, Utah with his loving wife by his side. He died of Metastatic Cancer.
De Von was born June 26, 1948 in Provo, Utah to John "Jack" Martin McPhie and Erma Cook McPhie. He married Diane Roberts on June 2, 1972. He was very proud to be married for 41 wonderful years.
De Von went to Provo High, UVCC, and took many training and certification classes for his working career. He Joined the USMC in 1967 for six years and did two tours of duty in Vietnam. He earned several medals and was awarded the purple heart.
He was a cement finisher, rough carpenter, did landscape construction, worked at Dugway and Tooele Army Depot, and worked several years in the electronic field and most recently as a licensed security officer.
De Von loved antiques, history, traveling, ice cream, making fudge, and learning new things. He was a hard worker, good at solving problems and figuring out how to do things by himself. He liked a nice looking yard and house. He had a sense of humor and always liked to look his best. De Von was very proud of his Scottish heritage.
De Von is survived by his wife, Diane, and his sisters, Ruby Vanisi, Colleen (Gail) Marble, Joyce (Howard) Alexander, LouAnn Zella, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother who died in infancy.
