Grant Morris Obituary
Dec.10, 1921 ~July 12, 2013
Bountiful, Utah-Our loving father, grandfather, brother and good friend to all passed away peacefully on July 12, 2013.
Grant was born in McCammon, Idaho to Sarah and Parley Morris.
He spent his early years on a farm where he learned the value of hard work. He moved with his family to Salt Lake, where he continued to work hard, and graduated from West High School. While at West he learned his love of music. His interest in music continued through his adult life, playing the bass fiddle in his band at the Ft. Douglas Officers Club and many other venues, and most recently playing in "The Golden Years Band" right up until his passing.
He served in World War II with the 11th armored division of the U.S. Army from 1942-1946 and was a proud and patriotic veteran.
Grant was a loan officer at Prudential Federal Savings and Loan for many years. After retirement, in spite of little formal education, Grant became a successful businessman and entrepreneur by way of sheer determination and devotion to his objectives.
He was a dedicated member of the LDS church, serving as the financial clerk and executive secretary for several Bishoprics, and Stake Presidencies, and in the High Priest Group Leadership. He also served as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple for many years.
He married his sweetheart Glenna Jensen on June 10,1948. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with three children-Patti (Larry) Jacobs, Michael Morris, Randall Morris, 5 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren. Married Bernice Drainey, deceased. Married Eva Mills, later divorced. He is survived by two sisters, Mavis Oswald and Cherryl Rose. As he passed from this life he was greeted by his wife Glenna, his son-in-law Larry, parents and brothers and sisters. What a joyous reunion!
Grant spent the last 3 years of his life at Legacy House of Bountiful. We would like to thank the staff there for their loving care of Dad. We would also like to thank Randy for his love and devotion to Dad during his final journey.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 19, at 12:00p.m. at the Monument Park Stake Center, 1320 So. Wasatch Drive (approx. 2400 East), Salt Lake City, with a viewing from 10:30-11:30a.m. prior to the services and Thursday evening from 6-8p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South.
