Our loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather Jacob Russell Hildebrand Jr. (Jake) passed away peacefully at his home in Tooele, Utah on October 28th.
Jake was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on June 18, 1932 to Jacob Russell and Nellie Anne Tumlinson Hildebrand. He lived in many places in Texas as a child, after graduating high school, Jake became a proud Texas Aggie. After graduating from Texas A&M University, Jake enrolled in the US Army, where he was an officer for two years. Jake then returned to college attending both Texas A&M and the University of New Mexico, obtaining a second Bachelors degree and a Masters in Chemistry. While at the U of NM he was recruited and accepted a job working for the U.S. Government as a chemist at Dugway Proving Grounds in western Utah. While in Dugway he met his wife Marilyn Abersold, they were married on April 22, 1963 in the Catholic Church in Logan. All three of his children were born in Dugway where Jake was a chemist and Marilyn was a teacher/counselor. They moved the family to Tooele in 1970; Jake ended his career at South Area Tooele Army Depot (CAMDS). A life long Catholic, Jake had great faith. He had many friends in all walks of life. Jake loved to play games with his family and friends. Loved college football (Gig'em Aggies). He especially loved his family. His wife Marilyn, his three children Teresa (Jeff Young), J.R., and Kristina Puffer. His grandchildren, Jordan Puffer, Quincy Puffer, Madison Young, Riley Young and Madison Bateman. He has two brothers, Thomas Richard (Andi) and Charles Melvin (Diana) and loved spending time with all of them. He also loved Marilyn's family, her brother Dale (Janet) Abersold and sister Janet (Roy) Speth. He was a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A public viewing and rosary will be held at St. Margarites Catholic Church on Sunday, November 3rd from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be the following morning, 11:00 am Monday, November 4th at the church, a viewing will be held one hour before at 10:00am.
