Jim Monson Obituary
Jim Monson
1940 ~ 2013
James Osborne Monson passed away peacefully at his home February 11, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 25, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, to Ephraim Venzel and Mildred Arlene Nelson Monson, one of ten children. He married Patricia Jean McLeod in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 26, 1965; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He served 3 ½ years in the US Army in Fairbanks, Alaska during the Vietnam War. Graduated from Salt Lake Community College with a degree in Accounting. He was a highly accomplished welder and engineer, retiring from Boart Longyear after 20 years of service. He was a very hard worker throughout his life who sacrificed everything so his family would have better opportunities than he had. He was a quiet and kind man with a witty sense of humor and was known for his love of music, especially blues and jazz. He lived a Christlike life that was evident by those who knew him, particularly in his compassion for those who were less fortunate than he. The love and high esteem his grandchildren held for him was remarkable; they always enjoyed his humor, playful nature and burnt marshmallows.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Jean; their 4 sons: Michael (Stephanie), Douglas (Carol), Robert and Jason (Camille); grandchildren: Becky, Brandon and Benny, Nathan, Kristen, Samantha and Jack, Weston, Soren and Dahlia; 5 brothers; 2 sisters. Preceded in death by parents; 2 sisters.
His life was "Just Dandy"
