JOHN F. MALONEY, age 86, passed away unexpectedly at home on Jan. 24, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Marie S. (nee Staud) for 62 precious years, loving father of Marie Barney (Brent), Donna Love (Scott), JoAnne Frandsen (Hal), Charlene DeCou (Dave), John (Suzanne), Richard (Carolyn), Kathleen Bruckner, and Eileen Leskovec (Keith), Grandfather of 23, and Great Grandfather of 24. Brother of Leo Maloney-deceased, Glynn Maloney (Marylou, deceased), Mike Maloney (Barbara), and Theresa Giltinan (John). He was sadly preceded in death by his granddaughter, Robyn Leskovec. John was raised in Pittsburgh, Pa., graduating from North Catholic High School and Duquesne University. He was a proud
World War II
, serving in the Philippines and Japan. Retired from the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad in Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, and Cleveland. He was an amateur photographer, photographing and making enlargements for many little league and high school teams, as well as, for the Pittsburgh and Cleveland Traffic Clubs. He served his community as a 16-year member and a past chairman of the North Olmsted Board of Zoning Appeals, served as president of the Holladay-Cottonwood baseball league, established and was president of the North Olmsted Soccer Organization (NOSO) and was a member of the Salt Lake City
and the Knights of Columbus. All family and friends were welcomed at the "Maloney Hotel".
Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Jan. 29, St. Richard Church, No. Omsted, OH. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH. Buried with Military Honors.
