Juan Filiberto Maestas|
After a long, courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson's, Juan Filiberto Maestas, 78, of West Valley City departed this life and entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 20, 2013.
Born in Mora, NM on May 13, 1934. He proudly served in the US Army from 1954-1956. He married Adelia LeFebre in 1963, and they had four children. He moved his family to Utah in 1968 to work at Tooele Army Depot, where he retired in 1990.
He is survived by his wife Adelia Rita LeFebre Maestas of West Valley City; his children Cristina (Jim) Marshall, Martina Maestas, Teresa (Mike) Curtis, and Juan (Charlotte) Maestas, Jr., all of WVC; his siblings Frank Maestas of Herlong, CA, Mary (Joe) Sanchez of Kearns, UT, and Tita Vigil of Santa Fe, NM.; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Pablo Cashmore-Martinez and Amalia Maestas-Martinez, and his brothers Jose Ignacio Maestas and Florencio Maestas.
A viewing will be held Sunday, January 27th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, where a Vigil will begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 28th, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 3580 West 3650 South, West Valley City. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 4th Ave. "T' Street, Salt Lake City.
