On May 4, 2014, Judy Anderson Barrett, 68, lost her seven yearlong battle to lung disease. After nine days in Inspiration Hospice care, she passed away in her home while holding hands with her daughters and husband.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, John Lindon Anderson and Virginia Peterson Anderson; daughters, Robin Dawn Barrett and Terry Lynn Barrett; brothers, Buddy Anderson, and Benny Anderson; sister, Arlene Story and brother-in-laws, Earl Zabriskie and Sherden Smith. Surviving are: her loving husband, Don Barrett; daughters, Brenda Wright and husband Jeff, Ilene Perdue and husband Chris; grandchildren, Zach Sayers, and wife Chanelle, Mercadez Barrett and Cori Biggs, Jordan Fletcher, Jonah Wright, Andrew Perdue, Ella Wright, and Kayden Perdue; brothers, Robert, Gene, and Clair; and sisters; Phylis Smith, and Bonnie Fitzhugh and husband Tom and Buddy's wife, Dorothy Anderson, and three great-grandchildren; Jayden, Brecken, and Sterling.
Judy graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1963. She furthered her education by taking undergraduate classes at Salt Lake Community College. She began working for the State of Utah Office of Recovery Services in 1983 and retired in 2009 after 26 years of employment. Judy joined the United States Air Force in 1980 and served several assignments, including in Desert Storm, Nevada Desert, New York, Hawaii, Virginia, Hill Air Force Base and California. She served several tours of duty in Greece, Germany, Turkey, Italy and the United Arab Emirates during Operation Iraqi Freedom, before retiring from the USAF as Master Sergeant in October 2005 after 25 ½ years of service to her country. She became very close to our Savior, Jesus Christ, during her time serving her County in the Middle East. Her family is comforted knowing she is with him once again.
A service will be held Friday, May 9, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Judy's church, C.A.M.P.U.S. 137 West 4640 South, Murray, UT. Food will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to , in Judy's honor.
