Julia Mae Hansen Obituary
1926 ~ 2013
Julia Mae Hansen, Soutas, Fowler, Griffin, wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away on December 5th, 2013, in Leland, Michigan. Julia was born in SLC, Utah on January 25, 1926 To Ray Burton & Francis Bell Hansen. Julia graduated from West High School in SLC, met and married her first husband, Ivan C. Soutas, and together they had 5 children. After their divorce, Julia worked in the medical field in an administrative position for a period of time, raising her children as a single Mom. She met her second husband, Herbert B. Fowler, and they married in 1970, and moved to East Lansing, Michigan. Following Dr. Fowler's death, Julia joined the staff at Michigan State University's Lifelong Education center as a conference coordinator. Two years later she started her own company "New Beginnings," a health and wellness program. Julia returned to Utah where she met and married Glen L. Griffin who passed away several years later. In 2001, following a series of health problems Julia returned to Michigan where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law until the time of her death.
Julia was preceded in death by her brother Jerry M Hansen and daughter, Julie Jeanne Soutas. She is survived by her sons Robert (Lynne) and Ron (Cathie) Soutas of SLC; her son Rick Soutas and step-son Reed (Holly) Fowler of Portland, Oregon; her daughter, Patricia (Robert) Soutas-Little in Leland, Michigan, her step­daughter, Julie (Terry) Fowler of Torrey, Utah; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Julia was a beautiful, kind, gracious lady who, despite life's challenges, always viewed the glass as half-full, never half-empty. She had the bluest eyes and a smile that lit up the room. Rest in peace sweet Mamma, you will be sorely missed.
The Memorial Services will be Saturday 11:00 AM January 25th 2014 at the Little Cottonwood 16th Ward Chapel 6350 S Rodeo lane (about 1600 E) SLC, Utah. Friends and Family are invited to the viewing held at the Church Saturday from 9:30AM until 10:40AM. Interment will be at the Sunset Gardens on 1950 E 10600 Sin Sandy Utah
