Kenneth Patrick Farrell Obituary
Kenneth Patrick Farrell
Kenneth Patrick Farrell was born September 25, 1919 in San Francisco, California to Frances (Edna) T. Miller and Daniel W. Farrell. He passed away on May 17, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was older brother to Ruth G. Farrell. He never married or had children but he shared a close relationship with his sister's children; Kristyne Dalrymple (deceased), Kathleen Longway, Karin-jean Danielle, James Longway (deceased), Raymond Longway, Gregory Longway, and Jonathan Longway. He was also important to his many grandnieces and grandnephews. The defining years of Ken's life were those he spent overseas during World War II. As a Corporal in the US Army, he served in the battles of Saipan and Okinawa and during the occupation of Japan. Ken had trouble returning to civilian life and struggled with PTSD for the rest of his life but in his later years he found comfort in caring for those he loved. He was a blessing to his mother and sister, both of whom he supported in love and temporal matters until they passed on. Ken was a lifelong, passionate fan of the SF Giants. In 2010 at the age of 91, Ken braved his first snowy winters by moving to Salt Lake City, Utah to be near his grandniece Tia Dalrymple and his close friend Jason Dickson. Ken was unconditional in the love and generosity he showed to family and friends. He made monthly trips to the craft store for silk flowers that he gave to the ladies in his life. He loved his country and his family and he was full of joy. He should be remembered as a sincere, loving man. He will be missed in this life. A family service will be held in California at a later date.
