Kerry Brent Jonas Obituary
Kerry Brent Jonas
1950 ~ 2013
Kerry Brent Jonas, "Neener", 62, of Park City, Utah, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, July 6th, 2013, the day before his 63rd birthday while camping with his family.
Kerry was born July 7, 1950 in Murray, Utah to Delwyn and Myrna Jonas. He graduated from Murray High School in 1968 and then from Stevens-Henager College. On November 15, 1968 he married Janet Hansen in Murray, UT. He was the father of four and proud Grandfather of six. Kerry was a volunteer firefighter for Murray City for many years. He was employed for 34 years as an engineer at Amdahl - turned Fujitsu. He was very dedicated to and enjoyed his work, and had not yet retired upon his passing. Through his years of work he traveled over a million miles to over 38 states and internationally to Europe and Japan. He was a true technology guru, fix-it-man, engineer and computer genius; and always had to tinker with the latest tech gadget. There wasn't a question Kerry couldn't answer or anything he couldn't fix. He was an avid fisherman and loved outdoor recreation. He was a great gardener, an accomplished astronomer, and was an amazing cook. Kerry had a big heart and behind his quiet, serious side, he was a prankster with a great sense of humor and wit. Kerry spent his free time serving others with what they needed fixed. What he loved most was spending time with his family. He often took his grandchildren to movies and activities, road trips to see meteor showers and stars, taught them techy stuff, and even played online games with them. His last day was spent in his element driving his grandchildren in his motorhome to the lake and making them dinner. They truly love and will forever miss their "papa".
Kerry is survived by his wife Janet Jonas, his three children - Jana Francis and her husband Eric, Justin Kerry Jonas and his wife Audria, his daughter Sara Jonas, his six grandchildren, Easton, Palmer, Brandon, Hannah, Jane and Bridger, his beloved brother and sister-in laws, Judy, Marilynn, Sharlett, Tena, Ed, Ladd, and Marty Hansen, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his newborn son Mardel, father Delwyn Thompson Jonas, and his brothers Greg and Michael Jonas.
A celebration of life service will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Friday, July 19th at his daughter's estate on 1109 W Old Millrace Lane, (5059 S), Salt Lake City, UT 84123.
