Les was born June 27,1933 in Osceola, WI. He passed away September 17, 2013 in Youngstown, AZ. He lived most of his life in West Jordan and Duchesne, UT. He had recently moved to Tonopah, AZ. Les served in the Marine Corp and was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Doris Carrie Griffith Aug. 14, 1954 in Evanston, WY. Atwood Mobile Products, Rio Grande Motorway, and Greg Larson Trucking employed him. He loved his dog "Buddy" as he was deaf his dog was a great companion. He liked hunting, snowmobiling and all other outdoor activities. He trained quarter horses for the racetrack and cutter horses. He rode his horse Sandy in the first reenactment of The Pony Express in 1960. He was a member of the Palomino Posse. In the last few years he read western books. He loved to watch BYU play football.
His wife Doris of 59 years survives him, daughters, Mary Ann (Jim) Gunnuscio, Connie (Paul) Crosby and son Jim (Teri) Pierce. 12 grandchildren and 20 great grand children also survive him. His aunts, Alice Palmer, Polly Whitaker, and Roberta Whitaker survive him. Preceded in death by sons Gary and Henry and granddaughter Joanie Gunnuscio.
Funeral services will be held at Broomhead Funeral Home 12590 So. 2200 W. Riverton on Monday, September 23rd, 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to services. Internment South Jordan Memorial Park. www.broomheadfuneralhome.com
