Margaret Jean Gill passed away peacefully on June 15, 2014 surrounded by her family.
A native of Seattle, she graduated from Roosevelt High in 1955. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority, while attending the University of Washington graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics in 1961. She met her future husband Dee Richard Gill while working as an Engineer's Assistant at Boeing in 1962. They married and moved to Utah for his work at Hercules in 1963. She attended BYU earning a Master's degree in Mathematics and Math Education in 1978 and a PhD in Administrative Secondary Education in 1987. Her teaching career involved being a beloved and respected Assistant Principal at Brighton High School in Cottonwood Heights Utah, teaching high school in St. Louis Missouri and Torrance California, along with being a part time college professor in California. When she retired, she and her husband Dee purchased a sailboat spending many lovely moments sailing throughout the San Juan Islands, British Columbia and the Puget Sound area of the Pacific Northwest. She traveled the world from Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, Australia and South America enjoying new experiences and meeting new people. She loved her family deeply and was always there for them.
Jean is survived by son David and wife Viomalyn, son Steven and wife Lisa, daughter Kristin "Mergatroyd" Thompson and husband Anthony, daughter Kathryn Gill and partner Hope, granddaughter Dana Mendoza and husband Matthew, granddaughters Kayle Thompson, Daneal Paul, grandson Zachary Ross, great grandsons Jacob, Brayden and great grand daughter Ellie.
A memorial service will be held on July 13, 2014 at 3 pm at the Elks Lodge 6411 Seaview Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98117.
