Kanab-Mary Jane Hansen, lost her courageous battle with Peritoneal Cancer on May 12, 2013. She was born on January 8, 1943 in Hollywood California to Nanna Serina and Thorkild Jens Mazanti.
Jane was born and raised in California where she met and married Donald Bergman and had four beautiful children. In 1972 they moved to Utah to raise their children. Jane joined the United States Army and served from 1973 to 1995. Jane became the first female recruiter in Utah. She continued as a recruiter until 1979 when she took a position at Fort Douglas, Utah to spend more time with her family.
In 1986 Jane married the love of her life Bruce Hansen. They have enjoyed 26 years together and settled down in Kanab. Jane was a devoted wife, loving mother, and true friend. She enjoyed building relationships and was generous with her time in helping others. Jane loved to garden, dabble in crafts, hike, houseboat, and travel in her "Magic House".
Jane is survived by her loving husband Bruce, sister Betty (Richard) Hanson; Four loving children Beth (Bill, Michael, Matthew) Kavoukas, Annette (Brian) Jacobs, Mike (Kristi, Nikkolas) Bergman, Jill Bergman and four wonderful step sons Wade (Kelli) Hansen, Noal (Debbie) Hansen, Lamar (Joyann) Hansen, Raymond Hansen. She had 16 beautiful grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many people that loved and cared for her.
She is preceded in death by her loving mother Nana and Father Thorkild Mazanti and Sister Ruth VanEttinger.
A celebration of life service will be held at the United Church of Kanab Fredonia in Kanab, Utah on May 18, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation starting at 1 p.m. Burial in the Kanab Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary.
