Merce Delbert Christensen
Del passed away on the morning of August 18, 2013 at the George E. Wahlen Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was 63 years old.
Del was born in Heber, Utah on April 11, 1950 to Deloris Trujillo. After his birth mother passed away from an illness, her best friends, Ted and Nedra Christensen, welcomed Del into their family. He was raised in Herriman, Utah in a large loving family.
On February 28, 1969, he married Barbara Coster. He joined the
US Air Force
in June of 1969 where he mastered the automotive trade. He and Barbara were divorced in 1980.
On April 19, 1991, Del married Marilyn Kay Garner and combined two families, totaling 12 children. He spent 25 years loving this large family and spending every day enjoying the constant hustle and bustle of the house.
Del's expertise in the automotive trade not only assisted him throughout his life, but allowed him to provide well for his family. He later opened his own business, "Big Boys Automotive." Del was a handy man in two trades-automotive and construction, and he proudly taught many of his children and grandchildren both of these trades. Del was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the great outdoors. His "ideal" weekend would include family, a boat, dogs, fishing poles, and a lake.
Del was honored to work from 2008 up until his death for the Wasatch Transportation for the deaf and blind children.
Del is survived by his wife, Marilyn Kay Christensen; 8 sons and 4 daughters; 30 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; and parents.
