In loving memory of a wonderful sweetheart, husband, father and grandfather. Merlin "Dean" Petersen passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 after a short illness.
Dean was born on February 2, 1922 in Logan, UT. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty M. Russell Petersen; father, Arthur J.; mother; Agnes L. Birch and brothers, Arthur, Darold and Demile.
He leaves behind his sweetheart Shirlie J. Charlesworth; sisters Gwen Brockway and Naugee Welker; daughters, Catherine Lovestad and Christine Petersen; granddaughters, Peggy Bauman and Deana Lundin and grandson Alexander Lovestad.
His career consisted of six years serving his country in the Navy during World War II. He also worked in the newspaper industry for 11 years in Norfolk, Virginia and over 30 years in Salt Lake City, Utah. He retired in Laguna Niguel, California and spent many wonderful years writing publications for the VFW and American Legion, walking the beach with his sweetheart and having a beer with his buddies. Dean will be greatly missed by all of those that knew him and loved him.
Private services will be held in California.
