Norman Guthrie Lever Obituary
1919 ~ 2012
Norman lost his last big battle on July 15, 2012. 20 years to the day of the death of his dear wife, Rhetta.
Born in Lancashire, England, the Lever family set sail for the "land of milk and honey" in 1930. He became a US citizen in 1936, and then joined the military in 1940 - working his way up from a Calvary private to Captain of the 6th Battalion Army Rangers in the South Pacific during World War II. He earned a Bronze Star for valor, and many other combat decorations. He truly was a leader of "The Greatest Generation".
Norman worked honorably as a sales executive in Barrington, Illinois, retiring to Houston, Texas, in 1990, then finally settling at the Utah State Veterans Home in Salt Lake City where he had longed to be.
His sister Dorothy, daughter Terry (Steve), sons James (Donna) and Richard (Robin), grandchildren Ian, Kyle, Bryce, Lyndi, Chelsea, and Christopher will miss his clever wit and sarcasm.
Ranger on, Norman! And give Rhetta a big hug from all of us who miss her so.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
