Phil Lund Aiken Obituary
1924 ~ 2012
After suffering through the debilitating effects of mesothelioma, Phil Lund Aiken died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, November 5, 2012. Phil was born in 1924 in Mitchell, Nebraska to Ruth L. and Evan L. Aiken. He lived In Provo and Orem, Utah for more than 56 years.
Phil served in the United States Navy from 1943-1945. He graduated from Lincoln Chiropractic College in 1949 and began building his practice until he was recalled to active duty in 1951 for the Korean War. He practiced chiropractic in Provo since November 1951, maintaining his solo practice for over 50 years.
During his years of practice he was active in his professional associations serving 15 years on the Utah Chiropractic Board of Directors and eight years by Governor's appointment on the Utah Chiropractic Examining Committee for the State of Utah. He served in one official capacity or another with the American Chiropractic Association since being elected delegate from Utah in 1967. Included in that service was a year as President of ACA followed by President of the Council on Chiropractic Orthopedics to the ACA.
In October of 2007, Phil moved to Santa Rosa, California to be close to daughter Laura and family. The family would like to thank the Staff at Villa Capri at Varenna and the Memorial Hospice of Santa Rosa for the kind care and comfort they rendered him during the final weeks.
Phil is survived by his sister Patricia Carver and husband Paul Carver of Rexburg, ID.; two daughters, Mim Aiken and husband Richard Benavides of Arlington, TX; Laura Aiken Conners and husband, Donald Conners of Rohnert Park, CA; and two grandsons, Phillip Dale Aiken of Duncanville, TX; and Stephen Patrick Conners and wife Lauren Conners of Pflugerville, TX.
